Eurofins Genomics’ plasmid preparation services are available from Midi to Giga Plus scale resulting in yields up to 20 mg of high-quality plasmid DNA. Preps starting from Mega scale are always processed with endotoxin-free kits. Maxi preps can be prepared endotoxin-free and sterile if desired. Animal-product-free preparation is also available for preps starting from Maxi scale.
Additionally, we also offer detection of endotoxin level (LAL test) as well as bioburden (sterility) assay.
Plasmid DNA preparation services are required in research laboratories, biotech and pharmaceutical companies for applications such as:- Transfection into mammalian cells
- Production of viral vectors
- Production of antibodies and recombinant proteins
- Production of DNA vaccines
- Cell and gene therapy studies
- Preclinical studies
- Toxicological studies
Expected quantities | Scale | Culture Volume | Expected Quantity* |
| Midi Prep | 50 - 100 ml | 15 - 50 µg |
| Maxi Prep | 100 - 250 ml | 100 - 500 µg |
| Mega Prep | 0.5 - 2.5 l | 500 µg - 2.5 mg |
| Giga Prep | 2.5 l | 2.5 - 10 mg |
| Giga Prep Plus | 5 l | 5 - 20 mg |
*Expected quantity for high-copy plasmids; the actual yield will vary for low- or medium-copy plasmids. Other factors may also decrease the yield (e.g. growth temperature, bacterial host strain, etc.)
Additional services- DNA sequencing (1 read using a standard sequencing primer) **Free of charge**
- Restriction enzyme digestion
- Linearization upon request
- Quality control report **Free of charge**
Please note: if no quality control option is selected, then NO quality control will be performed.
Animal-product-free preparationOur larger preps can be ordered as “animal-product-free” format. We have developed an optimized protocol that enables a fully BSE/TSE free production process. For this workflow, we only use certified animal-origin-free materials such as LB agar, LB medium, and plasticware. The RNase is BSE/TSE-free certified, but not yet though soon to be animal-origin-free. All preparations are carried out in a dedicated laboratory area by specially trained staff.
Turnaround timesTurnaround time (TAT) for plasmid preparations depend on the availability of your plasmid. Production can begin only after we have received your plasmid. If sequencing of the plasmid is required as part of the quality control (QC), production will start only after we have completed the incoming QC, which typically includes a single Sanger DNA sequencing read. Once the plasmid passes QC, the standard TAT is approximately 10 days. An express option is available starting from 5 days. For large batch orders, please contact us in advance to check for available production slots before placing your order.
